New Model to improve the effective utilization of animal protein
Chinese scientists have created for the first time internationally the method of injecting isotope in checking poultry internal amino acid loss, developed new model to improve animal protein effective utilization. The research group headed by Prof. Yao Junhu, from the Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry is responsible for this project. A few days ago the project had passed the research achievement appraisal organized by the Ministry of Education.
At present, China has the problems in high efficient utilization of amino acid in poultry. The measuring method of checking poultry internal amino acid loss has many serious drawbacks, thus feed protein cannot achieve rational utilization. In the poultry diet design, people only pay attention to gross protein, ignore amino acid content, thus, the energy/protein ratio is on the low side. To counter this actual problem, the research group took the lead in establishing the method of injecting isotope to examine poultry internal amino acid loss through isotope labeling and metabolic experiment. This method is much easier, rapid, low cost and higher precision as compared with current method of continuous injecting isotope. Through metabolic experiment, feeding experiment, and pilot experiment the research group found that when designing poultry diet, we should make use of available amino acid as the major target, using the model of low protein, but high amino acid high energy and high vitamin diet in high temperature seasons. This diet model can reduce nitrogen evacuation volume and moisture content in poultry feces, so as to increase protein utilization rate. The research group has put forward the appropriate amino acid and major nutrients requirement standard for poultry diet in northwest regions of China and formulated the formulation model of typical diet for poultry.
According to understanding, the research group has studied the research topic while extended research achievement when it was implementing the research project. Through optimization, the research group has screened out over 60 sets of ¡°typical feed formulations¡± in practice. At present, the research achievement has been applied in production.
