Issued Green Animal Product Standard
The first green animal product standard in China, ¡°Green Food: Animal
Hygiene Standard¡±, ¡°Green Food: Veterinary Drug Use Standard¡±, and
¡°Green Food: Feed and Feed Additive Standard¡± has completed formulation
by the China Green Food Development Center, passed the examination
and approval, and formally promulgated and entered into effect. The
first batch of green animal product manufacture enterprises has been
recognized according to the new standards. This marks the green animal
product recognizing work has been standardized.
Three criteria have put forward very high requirements on the production
of green animal products. In ¡°Animal Hygiene Standard¡±, it stipulates
that poultry farms must implement all-in and all-out system; personnel
entering and exiting the farm must change clothes, showing and disinfected;
put an end to the epidemics of Newcastle disease, fowl influenza and
other serious infectious epidemic diseases. It has put forward strict
requirements of veterinary drug hygiene for animals before slaughter,
post-mortem inspection, and meat product processing. In ¡°Feed and
Feed Additive Standard¡±, it clearly stipulates that 90% of animal
feed must come from green food production bases; prohibit the use
of medical feed additives; prohibit the use of animal raw material
with mammals animal as its raw material to feed ruminants; prohibit
the use of industrial synthesized oil he feed raw material produced
by transgenic methods; prohibit the use of various kinds of artificial
synthesized flavoring agents, perfume and staining agents, and gives
strict and clear restriction on the use of cohesive agent, antioxidant,
stabilizer, preservative, and non-protein nitrogen
In the aspect of veterinary drug use, the ¡°Standard¡± has clearly restricted
the use period and gives the kinds of anti-parasite drugs, antibiotics,
disinfectant, preservatives and vaccines that can be used during the
whole livestock and poultry production period. After strict screening,
19 kinds of veterinary drugs can be used. It has cancelled the use
of tetracycline, and new antibiotics used in human beings on meat
purpose animals. It prohibits the use of veterinary drugs, hormone
drugs, gene engineering drugs, hypnotics, excitants, analgesic, etc.,
which can cause abnormal, cancer, and mutation.
Three ministries have promulgated the Grade-A level Green Food Standard,
which has directed the orientation for animal husbandry and food industry
in China, and enabled the enterprises to follow the legal law. It
is beneficial for improving the hygiene, safety and quality of domestic
meat products. In world trade, this will enable meat products made
in China to have more competitiveness in the global market.
