Production and marketing of China Yellow Broiler
In the last 20 years, China¡¯s Yellow Broiler with
top quality has been developing fast with annual increase of 15%.
In 1980, the number of take-off of the broiler was 150 million,
and they were respectively 600 million in 1990 1500 million in 1998.
The production of Yellow Broiler in China accounts for 30% of white
feather broiler. Different from broiler£type chicken, China Yellow
Broiler can be divided into three types based on the growth: fast
growth type, medium growth type and top quality type (relative slow
growth) and distributed widely. Different markets have different
requirements for growth and appearance of the broiler.
1. Markets for fast growth type
The markets in Shanghai and provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui
require the fast growth type and the average bodyweight should reach
1.3 kg-1.5kg within 49days while neglecting the characteristics
of 3-yellows. Influenced by diet habit in local areas, farmers are
like to raise male broiler.
2. Markets for medium growth type
The markets are mainly in Hong Kong and the Pearl River delta region
and female chicks are very popular on the markets while the male
chicks are marked to outside the areas. The female broilers are
marketed at the weight of 1.5~2.0 kg within 80~100 kg, with strict
requirements on the 3-yellows.
3. Markets for top quality type
Provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi are the main markets for the
type, requiring the bodyweight of bullet broiler reach 1.1-1.5 kg
within 90~120kg.
