Rice Cultivation plus Duck Raising Technology Increased more than 3000 Yuan per ha.
Based on the news from the Fourth Symposium on Rice plus Duck Raising co held on July 19~22 in Zhengjiang, Jiangsu Province, the Ministry of Agriculture of China and the agricultural extension sectors at different levels are vigorously extending the technology of rice plus duck raising and the areas of rice plus duck raising will have been reached 20 million mu and farmers will have increased more than 2000 million yuan by the end of 2010.

According to Dr. Cheng Shihua, rice cultivation plus duck raising is a kind of comprehensive ecological technology of agriculture and it is an inheritance and development of essence of Chinese traditional agriculture on raising duck on paddy field. Using limited space of paddy field to produce both rice and duck meat without public harm free, with top quality and safety possessed broad prospects of development in the future.

Based on introduction, rice cultivation plus duck raising technology is to put ducklings onto paddy field, which will eat weeds and pests on the fields and using the vigorous activities of growing ducklings to stimulate growth of rice while the wastes of ducklings are used as manure. Practice proved that rice cultivation plus duck raising technology can reduce, in a big margin, application of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers and improve ecological environment while saving work and cost and producing high quality rice and duck meat.
