The Construction of P3 Laboratory Started in Fuzhou

According to Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the P3 laboratory with the largest scale and advanced equipment in East China 6 Provinces and 1 city was started in north suburbs of Fuzhou, Fujian Province. After completion, the laboratory will supply research and development of control technology of major disease such as bird flu with modernized high tech platform.

Fujian is a large city of water-fowl raising and in the past, the samples for research and isolation of virus would be sent by plane to the P3 laboratory Harbin or Lanzhou, which was more than 1000 km away. To have a research and development of water fowl flu vaccine, it is critical to construct P3 laboratory in local place.

“The core thought of the P3 laboratory is to protect against infection of laboratory staff and any waste from the laboratory including solids, materials and air will be discharged after public harm free treatment”said Mr. Lin Tianlong, Deputy Director of the Academy, who is in charge of the project.
