Research on the
Key Technologies for Breeding and Raising of Yellow Feather Broiler
Has Obtained Major Achievements
State Key Basic Research Program in the period of ¡°the tenth five-year
plan¡±-- research on the key technologies for breeding and raising
of yellow feather broiler, organized by the Institute of Animal Science,
Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has been examined and passed
by the expert group organized by the Ministry of Agriculture through
3 years of study and a series of major achievements has been obtained.
The Key Technologies for Breeding and Raising of Yellow
Feather Broiler
1. 4 new lines of yellow feather broiler have been bred successfully.
By applying modern genetic breeding theory, the traits of meat quality,
for the first time, have been listed on the index of broiler selection
and breeding to breed 4 new lines of yellow feather broiler with
the main characteristics of high content of intra-muscle fat. The
intra-muscle content of commercial chicken reached 3.05~4.18%;
2. The research on estimation for genetic parameters of meat quality
strait and screen on molecular genetic marker of meat quality strait
as well as the mechanism of the meat quality for yellow feather
broiler have been carried out, supplying valuable reference material
for precise of quality strait breeding and speeding up genetic progress.
3. ¡°Grading for the Quality of Yellow Feather Product¡±, yellow
feather broiler part of ¡°Poultry Feeding Standard¡± have been formulated
and modified, possessing important significant for standardizing
production, consuming market of yellow feather broiler and pushing
forward healthy development of yellow feather broiler industry;
4. Demonstration and Extension Base with annual productive capacity
of 12 million commercial broilers has been constructed. 1.792 million
set of parent generation poultry and 52.99 million commercial poultry
have been extended in three years, with good economic benefits.
