Has Basically Formed a Fairly Perfect Avian Influenza Prevention and
Control Technical System
The Science and Technology Group of the National Command Headquarter
of High Virulent Avian Influenza Prevention and Control stationed
in the Ministry of Science and Technology announced to the public
media that China has basically formed a fairly perfect avian influenza
prevention and control technical system.
According to the urgent demand from the field of high virulent avian
influenza epidemics and combined with the related technical reserve,
technical platform and talent advantages of the state science and
technology programs, the Science and Technology Group has rapidly
released 22 items of technologies and products used for the control
of high virulent avian influenza, basically formed a fairly perfect
avian influenza prevention and control technical system.
According to introduction, these 22 items of technologies and products
include 4 major categories: ①vaccines; ②rapid examination and diagnosis
technologies; ③preventive articles; and ④disinfecting equipment and
disinfectants.
Officer from the Ministry of Science and Technology said that at present,
they are organizing research forces from various parts of the country,
and adopt a combined method of technical introduction and technical
consultancy to rapidly extend these new technologies and products
to the avian influenza epidemic occurring regions.
He said that on the basis of the original “Tenth Five-Year Plan” research
programs, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) would readjust
and arrange 100 million yuan of special fund to be used in attacking
key problems in science and technology of the control of high virulent
avian influenza. MOST has arrange 18 key research topics, such as
development of special effective vaccines, development of new type
rapid examination and diagnosis technology and products, study on
the variation rules of pathogen and virus, study on the virus dissemination
mechanism among species, the development of avian influenza prevention
vaccine for human, and the screening of control pharmaceuticals, etc.
