China Has Completed Whole Gene Sequence Test of 4 Bird Flu Virus Strains
According to introduction from spokesman for bird flu
control in the Ministry of Agriculture of China, the report from National
Bird Flu Reference Laboratory on Feb. 11, 2004 said that they have
conducted pathogenic identification on bird flu suspicious samples
from Long-an County in Guangxi Province, Wuxue City in Hubei Province
and Wugang City in Hunan Province and isolated 4 strains of high pathogenic
H5N1 subtype. At present, testing for the 4 strains of whole gene
sequence have been completed. Based on preliminary analysis, the virus
distribution possesses obvious regional correlation, which has a far
relationship with the strain of human source H5N1 subtype bird flu
virus isolated in Hong Kong in 1997.
