The first organic poultry meat
product in China produced
On September 24, Sanjiazhai Village in Zhijin County, Guizhou Province
receive Certificate for their organic product from Nanjing Organic
Food Development Center of SEPA, marking that the first Chinese
organic poultry meat product has been produced in Guizhou Province.
In 2001, Sanjiazhai Village, characterized by fresh air, good quality
water and fine forestry vegetation, began to raise broiler using
the model of ˇ°growing grass for grazing poultry under forestˇ± supported
by ˇ°the Project of Canada Funded Guizhou Comprehensive Poor Alleviationˇ±.
Approved by authoritative institution, the broiler products produced
in the village are harmful substances free including antibiotics,
hormone, agricultural chemical residue and other harmful microorganism.
Compared with other meat products, the poultry meat contains 38%
lower cholesterol and 40%-60% higher calcium and phosphorus as well
as 25%-65% higher zinc and selenium, etc.
At present, Sanjiazhai Village can produce 10000 organic broilers
per year.
