Backbone Enterprises in Poultry Industry Solemnly Promise: We Pledge
to Provide Safe Poultry Product to Our Consumers
On February 28, the China Food, Native Product and Animal Product
Import and Export Association and the China Association of Animal
Science had jointly held the “Hundred Backbone Poultry in Chinese
Poultry Industry Poultry Product Safety Promise News Release Conference”.
The presidents and general managers of the hundred poultry backbone
enterprises in China solemnly promised: ① Insist on the principle
of putting the interest of the consumers the highest; And insist on
the implementation of poultry husbandry, processing and operation
strictly according to the State food safety and hygiene standard.
② Pledge to produce, processing and market safe and healthy poultry
products and make the consumers at ease. ③ Welcome and conscientiously
accept the quality supervision by governments at all levels and the
broad masses of consumers on the backbone enterprises and poultry
product processing. ④ Strengthen sector autorhythmicity, and consciously
maintain sector reputation and enterprise reputation.
Poultry industry is one of the pillar industries in agriculture in
China. According to statistics, in 2003, China had slaughtered 8.3
billion birds and held 4.7 billion birds, with a total output value
of 241.5 billion RMB. 13.7 million farmers directly engaged in poultry
husbandry, a total net income of 27.1 billion RMB gained by farmers.
About 99.39 million crop industry farmers were involved in poultry
husbandry while the net income gained by farmers in crop industry
reached 32.7 billion RMB. People involved in poultry product processing
were 1.34 million. The income gained by processing workers was 1.29
million RMB. Poultry industry is also a sector, in which the industrialization
level and the extent of conform to international practice industry
in livestock production sector. China has exported poultry meat and
its product and earned over US$800 million in 2003, of which 70% of
products came from these leading and backbone enterprises.
