China Has Successfully Developed the Swine Pseudo-rabies Vaccine
The first strain of animal virus gene engineering vaccine has successfully come out from the Animal Biotechnology Center, Sichuan Agricultural University. The swine pseudo-rabies (gene lacking) live vaccine (SA215 strain) developed by Professor Guo Wanzhu from the Sichuan Agricultural University has recently received certificate of state new veterinary medicine. It has created the practice of the first animal virus gene engineering vaccine in China.
Pseudo-rabies is one of the key control swine diseases. The European Community requires the import swine be injected with gene lacking vaccine. At present time, China has to rely on import vaccines to prevent this disease. The vaccine developed by Prof. Guo Wanzhu is superior to import vaccines. After pilot experiment in several pig farms in Sichuan Province, it has created several hundreds millions of benefits for animal production in the areas.
