The Island of
Xiamen Is No Longer to Raise Pig
Through more than two years of hard working, the
work for banned pig raising inside the Island of Xiamen, Fujian
Province has been basically completed in June, 2004.
The sectors related, such as Municipal Bureau of
Environmental Protection, the Bureau of Agriculture, the Bureau
of Finance and the Bureau of Audit, etc have a combined inspection
in two areas of Siming District, including Guanboshan and Huzaishan
and found that there was no any pig raised in the two areas. Once
pass through the inspection, Xiamen will be the leading city to
realize banned pig raising in China.
According to introduction, treatment for pollution
from raising livestock and poultry in 2002 is one of the projects
that the municipal government will conduct for local residents,
which will have been completed with 3 years.
