10 kinds of veterinary medicine are prohibited for use in pig

From July 1, 2004, ¡°Pork Safety and Health Standard¡± will be officially released and implemented by Beijing Municipal Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision and Beijing citizens will be easier to consume pork and the products. In the Standard, the highest limitation of residue for 70 kinds of veterinary medicine, such as Amitraz, Amoxicillin, Chlortetracycline, Dichloro Diphenyl Trichloroethane (DDT), dichlovos, Gentamycin Sulfate and Oxacillin Sodium etc are stipulated, especially the 10 kinds of veterinary medicines including chloramphenicol, Colchicine, Dimetridazole, Ronidazole and Clenbuterol etc are prohibited for pig using in pig.
Besides, the sensory and Physical & Chemical indices for evaluating the quality of pork are also stipulated in the Standard, including color, texture and flavor, etc. and the content of mercury in 1000g of pork must less than 0.05mg and they are must be less than 0.5 mg and 0.1mg for arsenic and lead, respectively. Salmonella and E. coli causing diarrhea should not be found in pork.
