INDUSTRY PROFILE of Animal Husbandry in 2003 in China

China’s animal agriculture industry has been experienced a rapid and sustainable growth since the founding of new China, especially after our reform and opening to the outside world. The quantity of animal products occupies an important position and virtually becomes one of the largest meat producers in the world. The proportion of overall meat products to the world has reached to 28.02% in the year 2003 from 3.61% in 1962.

The overall meat production, the meat production of each species, poultry eggs as well as production per capita has been showing a sustainable growth. The sequence of growing rate is consistent in both of overall production and of production per capita, that is: beef>rabbit meat>mutton>pork>poultry meat> poultry eggs
