Tianjin developed pig blue ear disease vaccine
The ¡°Swine Reproductive and Reparative Syndrome Immune Control Technology¡± of Tianjin project of tackling key problems in science and technology presided over by Prof. Ding Bailiang from the Institute of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences has successfully developed swine blue ear disease oil emulsion inactivated vaccine through 3 years¡¯ efforts. A few days ago, this research achievement had passed expert technical appraisal organized by the Tianjin Science Commission.
Swine Reproductive and Reparative Syndrome is commonly called blue ear disease, it is a new infectious disease, seriously harming normal development of pigs. The clinical symptom includes abortion of pregnant sows, still birth, mummy birth, weak piglet, no estrus, or unable to get pregnant; reduced boar libido of boars; piglets will have the symptoms of not sunk milk or less efforts to find the teats; unstable standing, diarrhea, coughing, resulting in low survival rate. This oil emulsion inactivated vaccine can have an immune protection rate of over 90% through experiment on 10 pig farms.
