Strengthen Construction of System to Support the Continuous
Development of Swine Production in China

Set up and perfect efficient breed breeding system, breeding swine testing and quality supervising
system and artificial insemination station. Strengthen construction of feed production and
industry, system to put out feed with characterization of Chinese feed industry. Strengthen the
prevention and cure of disease, the construction of veterinary medicine and vaccine production
system. Set up veterinary clinic center. Strictly control epizooty occurring and panzootic. Set up
system of protecting environment and eliminating feces pollution. Strengthen the system
construction of pork processing, fresh keeping and transportation. Strengthen the system
construction of animal science and technology, education, production and application to improve
the quality, of swine producer. Rely on scientific and technological progress, improve level of
swine production. Aiming at key step and technology of swine production, we must combine high and new technology with convention research to continuously improve scientific and techn61ogical level of swine production. The goals attained by 2010 will be:

* Per sow provides 20-22 commercial pigs per year.
* Body weight of commercial hybrid pig reaches 90kg at 170-180 days.
* Feed conversion of growing pig is 2.8-3.2.
* Lean meat percentage of carcass is 62% -64%.
* Marketing rate of fattened stock is more than 160%.
