Lack of piglet become a bottleneck of development of pig industry in Hainan

According to statistics of Livestock Department of Hainan Agriculture Department, Hainan fetch in about 1000000 piglets from Guangxi in 2004. This means that Hainan lacks at least about 1000000 piglets yearly. It is estimated by Pig Trade Association of Hainan that the whole province lacks at least 1500000piglets.

Fenfei, worker of Livestock Department of Hainan Agriculture Department says that piglets of Henan yet cannot meet Hainan market's demand, and piglets' price is always above 10yuan/kg, what's more, sometimes as high as 14yuan/kg to 15yuan/kg. Experts of pig industry point out that 14yuan/kg is a quite high price; since piglets are in great shortage, quite a part of profits of raising pigs in Hainan are earned by other provinces.
