Chinese vaccines to fight Japanese Encephalitis in India

INDIA - Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss has held discussions with his Chinese counterpart Gao Qiang on wide ranging issues, including import of vaccines to contain Japanese Encephalitis taking heavy toll in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Dr Ramadoss, currently on a visit to the country, also held discussions with President of the National Family Planning Commission of China Zhang Weiqing on cooperation in the field of Family Planning strategies as well as procurement and supply of contraceptive commodities including new molecule developments, technology transfer relating to this also figured during the talks.

The bilateral discussions in Beijing covered important areas of cooperation in areas like Indigenous Systems of Medicines (Export and Import), their Processing Technologies, Quality Control and Export Processing Zone for Traditional Medicines, an official release said here today.

Strategies adopted by China for controlling TB, malaria and leprosy was also considered. The Chinese experience in health insurance initiatives also figured during the talks.
