Examination
Fee of Avian Leukosis Will Be Reduced by a Big Margin --- Avian
Leukosis Antigen Examination Reagent Kit Passed the Appraisal
At present, the Avian Leukosis Antigen Examination Reagent
Kit, a research project of the national ¡°948¡± strategic research
topic, with Professor Chen Fuyong, College of Veterinary Medicine,
China Agricultural University, as the principal investigator,
had passed the check and acceptance by the national ¡°948¡±
Project Group in the China Agricultural University, and also
passed the evaluation of related experts from the Ministry
of Agriculture. The experts have unanimous view that this
project achievement has filled in the gaps in this field and
reached the world advanced level.
Avian leucosis virus is a very common intrinsic leucosis
virus. The major host of this virus is chicken, occurrence
rate is, in general, 3%~30%. The growth and production of
infected chickens are seriously influenced. Due to the vertical
contamination of the disease, it causes enormous hazard to
poultry industry. However, this disease has insignificant
clinical characters, and very easy to mix up with other diseases.
In the past, China had used imported reagent kit to examine
this disease, with high price of over 5000 RMB per kit; most
enterprises could not tolerate such high examination cost.
Through 6 years of efforts in the research team headed by
Professor Chen Fuyong, they have made full absorption of the
imported technology and its resources, with continuous exploration;
they finally developed the Avian Leukosis Antigen Examination
Reagent Kit with autonomous intellectual property right. This
reagent kit has the characters of simple operation, rapid
reaction, high sensitivity, and high stability, with a check
out rate similar to the imported kit but the cost has been
reduced by a big margin. It is of great importance in the
application of this technology in the control and purification
of avian leucosis in China, and examination of extrinsic virus
of biological products. It is estimated that this research
achievement will enter industrialized operation in 2 years
and will produced enormous social and economic benefits.
